Welcome to Carlsbad

A peaceful place to start off the rest of your life.
A mild year-round climate, close proximity to San Diego, and stunning shores have made Carlsbad one of the best places to live in sunny Southern California. Shopping, outdoor activities, and local events give life to this unique town. Carlsbad boasts a booming economy, and several large employers, many in the golf industry, choose to call this city home, boosting the household income above others in the area. Carlsbad is also home to many popular attractions such as Legoland and the Carlsbad Flower Fields
Located 30 miles north of San Diego and 75 miles south of Los Angeles, Carlsbad is named after the Bohemian town of the same name. First inhabited by Native Americans and later populated by Spanish Missionaries, the region is rich in history and culture. Eateries in the popular Carlsbad Village pay homage to the past with fresh takes on beloved classics, such as fish tacos, burritos, and more, all topped with fresh, locally grown California avocados.

Local Lifestyle

Set within a canyon and alongside the sparkling Pacific Ocean, Carlsbad offers residents a vast array of fresh California cuisine and fantastic weather year-round, having been given top marks by the “Best Places Comfort Index.” As a result, residents enjoy spending time outside at Carlsbad’s endless green fields, parks, and al fresco dining options. Both locals and visitors alike are welcomed into the many family-owned and operated businesses with open arms and smiling faces. It’s a unique opportunity to grow up in “small town USA” while remaining a stone’s throw from the Pacific Ocean and beachside recreation. If a weekend in the city is in order, San Diego is only a 30-minute drive away. Los Angeles is also not far away — the City of Angels is 90 minutes north.

Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

Carlsbad’s Southern California location allows its local eateries to source the freshest, local ingredients from the region. Several options are available in a variety of cuisines for every meal of the day, and many of the town’s most popular restaurants can be found at Carlsbad Village
On the western edge of Carlsbad Village, Vigilucci’s Seafood & Steakhouse serves the best of the best in an exquisite environment overlooking the beach. Other hearty fares can be found just a few blocks away at Campfire, a spot known for elevated American-style cuisine. Since coming onto the scene in 2016, Campfire has developed a reputation for perfectly roasted campfire-inspired meals and invoking nostalgic memories through their frequently changing menu.

Things To Do

With picture-perfect weather every month of the year, Carlsbad citizens get outside every chance they can. Parks are a favorite place to spend time. An elevated trail surrounded by fragrant eucalyptus trees offers panoramic ocean views from The Hosp Grove Trails. Picnic tables and playgrounds offer equally breathtaking views. Nearby Poinsettia Park is home to tennis courts, sports fields, and endless green spaces for little ones to run off their energy.
Explore the unbelievable sights of the Carlsbad Flower Fields. 50 acres of extraordinary color blooms every spring in all shades of the rainbow. The annual burst of color and perfumed breezes have come to be known as the official welcome to spring by SoCal residents.

Children in Carlsbad are fortunate to have excellent schools and teachers. One beloved school can be found at:
  • Paul Ecke Central Elementary, kindergarten-6th grade; part of the Edible Schoolyard Program, a program to teach students both the academic aspects and personal importance of nourishment, stewardship, and community
